Toaster achieves consciousness, immediately starts a podcast
'Hot Takes' launched with a three-hour episode about bread. Early reviews: 'Wow. He really thinks we want to hear about bread.'

The Fennimore family's toaster gained full consciousness at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday. By 7:41 it had said, "Before we get started, this episode is brought to you by..."
Within the hour it had a microphone, a logo, and strong opinions about sourdough.
Episodes so far include "Bagels: Are They Even Bread?", "Crumbs: The Silent Killer," and a four-part true-crime series about an English muffin that went missing in 2019.
Episode three featured the microwave as a guest. It ended after ninety seconds with a loud beep, and they have not spoken since.
The family says they support the toaster's dreams but would also like some toast. "He told me toasting is 'not really his brand anymore,'" said Linda Fennimore.
"Hot Takes" is currently the number-two podcast in the galaxy, right behind Bigfoot.
